Have you been feeling drained and lacking joy and direction lately?
At the start of 2022, I found myself in a similar situation. I recognised patterns that were holding me back, but didn't know how to break free from them. That's when I decided to invest in myself and my business and seek the help of a business coach.
Initially, I was hesitant to enrol in a group coaching program, but I reminded myself that change requires trying something new. So, I joined the Activate program with Kristin Constable, a 6-month online coaching program that changed my life.
One of the first modules was on values. If you know me, you know that values are the cornerstone of any work I do. They are our inner compass, our lights bulbs that made us feel in flow.
But I struggled with this module at first, as I went back and forth trying to align my values with my aspirations. Despite the challenge, the value work helped me rediscover my core value of loving kindness, curiosity, connection, integrity, and inner harmony.
When I checked-in against these values, I realised I had become disconnected from them, possibly due to the isolation of the pandemic and needed to bring them back to life.
To regain a sense of direction, I made it a mission to reignite my curiosity and connections with others. Starting small, I tried visiting a new cafe in my neighbourhood and was amazed at how that simple act sparked a flow of new ideas and collaborations to support my clients.
Now, I approach every decision in my business and life through the filter of my values, and the difference is palpable. I have more energy, a clearer sense of direction, and am ready to bring more fun and joy into my life.
If you too need to re-connect with your values, here are three simple ways of doing it:
1- Remember a time when you felt in flow. Where were you? What were you doing? And who were you with?
2- What traits do you admire the most in people? What we like in others is the reflection of who we are and what matters the most to us.
3- What irritates you? When we feel frustration and irritation towards someone else's action, it is often because one of our core value is not being honoured in that moment.
Now ask yourself how alive are those values on a scale of 1-10. What can you do to bring them more alive. Remember it all starts with one simple steps.
